Mele Kilikimaka! Merry Christmas from Hawaii

Hau'oli Makahiki Hou - Happy New Year. The western Christmas and New Year fell during this same time of the year that the Hawaiians traditionally honored the earth for giving them plenty to eat. This period of resting and feasting was called Makahiki (mah-kah-HEE- kee). It lasted for 4 months, and no wars or conflicts were allowed during this time. Because makahiki also means "year", the Hawaiian phrase for "Happy New Year" became "Hau'oli (happy) Makahiki (year) Hou (new)"(how-OH-lee mah-kah-hee-kee ho). - Hawaiian Christmas and New Year's Words and Phrases

Yesterday, we had a meeting for this exciting event. It will also be my first time witnessing a Halloween Party in United States. Today, we met at the Recreation area to decorate. There were 4 people including me. We started decorating. I enjoyed it very much. That is why I pormise you my dear readers that I will post pictures of the different halloween decorations. The Matsuri Kaua'i 2008 Event
I have just witnessed and enjoyed the Matsuri Kauai- A festival cosponsored by the Kauai Economic Development, Hawaii Tourism Authority, and the County of Kauai held at the Kauai Memorial Convention Hall to showcase the different groups of talents and to perpetuate the Japanese culture. A feature from Japan was presented at this event along with some hands on activities (oshinbana, origami, oshie) crafts, kimono dressing. tea ceremony, shodo, bonsai ikebana, etc.
We first attacked the Bento (food for lunch), enjoyed it and then roamed around the activity areas.
Unedited video can be seen below:
